United Way Volunteer Phil Smith Honored

Phil Smith of Winfield, Ill. was honored as United Way of Metropolitan Chicago Volunteer of the Year at the United Way Community Celebration on May 8. The event was held at the Chicago Hilton. Smith is director of the DuPage County Department of Community Services and has been involved with United Way for four years. United Way Recognizes Region's Most Generous Leaders

United Way of Metropolitan Chicago today announced the 2009 Top 25 Corporate Citizens of Metropolitan Chicago at its annual Community Celebration at the Chicago Hilton. Topping the list for the third year in a row as the region’s #1 corporate citizen was Northern Trust, which contributed almost $3 million to United Way through corporate and employee donations. Mujeres Latinas en Accion Steps Up for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Did you know that in the U.S. 683,000 women are reported raped each year? That’s 78 women each hour, according to the National Victim Center.
