First Nonprofit Insurance Company Kicks-off United Way Campaign

United Way of Metropolitan Chicago is pleased to announce its partnership with First Nonprofit Insurance Company for the 2009 annual United Way campaign. First Nonprofit launched its employee giving campaign on November 12. Last year, employees contributed $136,958 to United Way, including a corporate gift of $68,479. African American Initiative Partners with Israel Idonije to Encourage Students to Stay in School

The United Way African American Initiative  (AAI) is now in its fifth year of working with students in Bronzeville/Grand Boulevard, Englewood, Lawndale, Rogers Park and Roseland. AAI is developing sustainable approaches to help youth improve their academic performance and school attendance, learn leadership skills, discover career options and practice non-violent conflict resolution. After-School Program Keeps 96 Percent of Participating Students On Track to Graduate in At-Risk Communities

PricewaterhouseCoopers Volunteers Help Local Teens Prepare for College and Careers

United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, PricewaterhouseCoopers employee volunteers and the Kelly Hall YMCA will take part in a United Way Day of Caring. Volunteers will help students in the Teen Reach program explore career options and give helpful tips on preparing for college.
