Business, Labor Leaders Call For End To Budget Impasse

(CBS) — Pressure is building for Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and majority Democrats to end their months-long stalemate over Illinois’ budget.

Chicago business and labor leaders are joining the United Way in calling for an end to the months-long state budget impasse. The United Way says a survey of human service agencies shows almost one-third will run out of money within a month.

“We have conducted a survey of our agency partners across the state and 80 percent of our partner agencies are in one way or another cutting their service to our most at risk populations,” said United Way president and CEO Wendy DuBoe. “About a third are in the process of already depleting their financial reserves.”
