Apply for EFSP Funds, Deadline Jan. 7
The Federal government is expected to make almost $5 million in Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) grants available to nonprofit organizations and local government agencies in Chicago and suburban Cook and DuPage counties. United Way is the local administrator of EFSP food and shelter dollars which are made available yearly to supplement local emergency food and shelter programs in the region. These funds are not associated with FEMA emergency relief efforts. To receive funding, health and human service care agencies must submit completed applications and supporting documents by 5 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010.
Applications may be obtained by contacting Thomas Galassini, Local EFSP Administrator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312.906.2360 or mailing a request to United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, 560 W. Lake St., Chicago, IL 60661. United Way chairs the local boards in charge of Emergency Food and Shelter Program allocations, which are funded directly by The Department of Homeland Security.
